+ sign in front or HDD partitions..
+ sign in front or HDD partitions.. –

when ever i create anew partition in ule...it adds a + to the beginning....
this prevents me from creating partitons with specific names that are needed by other apps... such as the __boot partition for dev2...
it gets created as +__boot
If i click rename...the rename box shows the original name as __boot without the + ??!!
whats wrong...i have the same problem with the dms hdd tool as well.

Ehh, + is made by humans in user apps such as DMS or uLe,
__ is made by system apps, such as ToxicOS or HDLoader.

That is correct. The DMS HDD Format tool allows the user to specify two out of the three possible partition name prefixes.
"__" == prefix for system partitions, not to be modified by users or normal applications
None == prefix for application partitions, still not intended for user files
"+" == prefix for user partitions, freely usable
The above is how Sony intended things to be from the start, but this has not survived unchanged very long. Another prefix that is very common today is the "PP." prefix, which is used by various applications, including HDLoader and CodeBreaker. These are variants of the 'application partitions' mentioned above, as they don't use either the "+" nor the "__" prefix.
The DMS HDD Format tool allows creation of user and application partitions, but can only create system partitions when formatting.
The uLE HddManager (as yet) only allows creation of user partitions, though it too can create system partitions when formatting.
Then i formatted my harddisk and after that i could never get rid of all the + signs..
The same tool used before should still be able to create application partitions (no "+" prefix) on the new format, provided that you use the correct version for your disk size. If you use the oldest versions, with 28-bit LBA, then it will only work for HDDs smaller than 128 GB (131072 MB). For larger HDDs you need to use a version patched for 48-bit LBA.

Sorry about that. It's been a while since I used it, and now when I try it again I find that feature missing just like you do. Apparently I was wrong about it being able to create 'application' type partitions, and it has the same limit as uLE, of only being able to create 'user' type partitions (except when formatting the entire HDD).
But I do remember that some homebrew software can create 'application' partitions, without fomatting HDD, and still have one of those partitions to prove it. ("PS2OS")
So it should be possible to modify the HddManager of uLE to do it too.
I'll keep this in mind for the future.

but i have had the same version of DMS Tool since the very beginning..i never downloaded a new version...
how the heck did i create an application partitino!!??!!
And this was waay before you added the HDD manager to uLE... so the only other tool at the time was the DMS one.
possible a rare bug... ?

No, only partitions with the plus "+" sign can be renamed with uLaunchELF's partition Manager.
