This is a PS2 forum, not a PSP forum, so a lot of the users here have no PSP and never did have any, myself included. So I, and others like me, can only give you advice on generic use of USB storage drives, which is not what you asked for.
As for whether or not a PSP is at all compatible with a PS2 (requires FAT32 format as well as USB 1.1 backwards compatibility), I have no idea whatsoever.

Well since I have used my psp to play video files in sms before, I'm pretty sure you should be able to go into usb mode in ule. Doing that though I would sugest that you try to enter usb mode before entering MASS storage after that it should see it. For going the other way around I don't know if you will be able to copy from the psp back to the memory card. Just try to see if the psp exits usb mode or says error when backing out of MASS.
So in other words Just try to see if you can view it in ule and copy some elf file to test. For sms just make sure it auto starts usb and put your psp in usb mode and it will work just fine.
Hope this helps some.
