Hi I have a few questions:
I have a V9 and a V14 will this exploit work on both?
yes for the v9 it is possible but for the v14 the buffer overflow has been fixed so no exploit available
On the contrary...the exploit has been rediscovered for v12+ consoles...
google it.
The original exploit is definitely NOT available on any V12+ model, and the discovery of a new exploit for these models is something I've not heard a word about except now in your post.
So please explain in some greater detail or provide a link to the information you refer to, as this is one subject I doubt google can resolve, since any search involving related key words is bound to bring up thousands of false hits for discussions about the 'old' exploit.

Obviously its not exactly the old exploit, but with some changes here and there it works on v12+ consoles. I read a step by step guide on how to get it working around a week ago..I cant seem to find it now either..I was looking for something else and i came across it.
I guess its most probably a hoax cos in 1 week it should have been posted all over the internet...
Getting back on topic about the PSX backups...Apparantly PS1 backups can just be swapped with an original PS1 disc and it will load..
Also it seems that a BACKUP ps1 disc will trigger the exploit on fat ps2s, if you include its id in titles.db.
Why does every1 keep saying PSX ??? A PSX is a PS2 with a dvd burner that can record videos. Its NOT a ps1.
Or you could boot to ULE then swap with your backup ps1 disc, and go the the PS2Browser through ULE and start the backup from there.

Not on my PS1, with any tools available to me.
And even with the appropriate tools it's not quite so simple.
First of all it requires some minimal hardware modification, so that it is physically possible to swap the disc without the PS1 BIOS detecting the opening of the lid (which opens the lid-switch, which is detected by BIOS). On my PS1 I fixed this simply by connecting an extra switch in parallel with the normal one, so with that switch closed the BIOS is unable to detect the open lid.
But you also need some program on a pressed disc (not CD-R or DVD-R) which performs the booting after you swap, because it's virtually impossible to swap correctly during the normal reset-boot of the console. I've heard that some versions of the Action Replay discs are ideal for such swapping, but the only Action Replay version for PS1 that I have requires detection of the lid-switch before it will proceed to boot a game. Thus it also requires that the BIOS detects that switch, making CD-R use impossible...
But I have verified that my discswapping switch works, as I can swap to a backup disc of FF7 when performing a 'warm reset' (the in-game command R1+L1+R2+L2+Select+Start). Such a reset does accept a CD-R backup, but it can't be used for generic swapping as the game still checks the disc ID to be sure that the disc is for FF7.
Without a proper rebooting tool, such as those other AR versions (impossible to find here) I will clearly not be able to run my backups on my PS1. (Which is not such a big deal to me as I also have a modded PS2.)
Hmm, that interesting. I'll have to try that. Also it seems that a BACKUP ps1 disc will trigger the exploit on fat ps2s, if you include its id in titles.db.
Because that is the original acronym Sony invented for the playstation console. At that time it would have made no sense to call it PS1, since no PS2 existed or was even planned. Why does every1 keep saying PSX ???
The reuse of the same acronym again for completely different hardware was a horrible mistake by Sony. In my opinion the most *correct* interpretation of the acronym is the one that was first created.A PSX is a PS2 with a dvd burner that can record videos. Its NOT a ps1.
The new machine should have gotten a new name of its own, but unfortunately someone bungled that part.
However, in the aftermath of that mistake the best thing we can do is to consistently use the terms PS1 and PS2 for the normal consoles, and avoid the use of the term PSX entirely. And if we need to speak of that video recorder version, then we'll just have to describe it explicitly, as that is the only way to make sure that we're properly understood.

I'm not sure what exactly you mean by the word 'swap' here.
If you refer to some 'flip-top' method of yanking out a disc from a spinning drive, then forget it. I see no sense in shortening the drive life by such drastic means. In the long run it must be cheaper to simply buy a mod-chip.
