has it been added ? I haven't tested the latest releases.
The only thing keeping me from using UlaunchELF is the lack of progressive scan support. As it is, it just wont work on my TV. the screen doesnt refresh.
best regards

Nope, maybe someone will add it as dlanor and myself lack the necessary hardware to do it.Originally Posted by jfassad
No, and like EP said, it's not likely to happen unless some new developer contributes that code.Originally Posted by jfassad
So you mean to say that the manufacturer of that TV set has chosen to have NO compatibility with traditional TV signals, used by the bulk of old video recorders and players...!?!The only thing keeping me from using UlaunchELF is the lack of progressive scan support. I find that very hard to believe. If you search for it and read all available documentation, I think you will find some way to set it for compatibility to traditional TV signals. If not, then there is nothing we can do to help you, as we simply don't have the hardware needed to test progressive scan.
Btw: I'm not sure what model of PS2 you have, but the one I have doesn't provide any global way of choosing progressive scan for games, and very few of the games I've seen offer such a mode in their options. So if you really can't use traditional TV signals with that TV at all, then I don't think it's very useful with a PS2, regardless of what homebrew software you use.

When I got my Dell LCD TV, uLaunchELF wouldn't display either. It turned out to be a quirk with component video mode and non-interlaced signals. I fixed it by using a composite cable to view uLE, change uLE to interlace mode, then reconnect the component cable.Originally Posted by jfassad

Good luck!

Some homebrew programs don't display at all using component cables. uLaunchelf and the Matrix Infinity config menu are some examples. But I think that it depend's on the TV model / brand, as the reports are inconsistent.
Yeah, it must be the TV. I have no problems with any homebrew, through component input on my 4:3 Akai TV.
My brother just got a brand new Philips HDTV (it's a CRT.) When PSOne games boot up, the screen freezes on the black PlayStation logo. You can hear the game running, but the fancy TV refuses to refresh. So his only solution is to switch to S-video/composite for PSOne games. uLaunchELF works fine (in interlaced mode only.)
Maybe this isn't a good sign for the PS3. I wonder if Sony will fix the video output for PSOne games considering PS3 is designed with HDTV in mind?![]()
I just got a transcoder to support progressive scan on my monitor, can someone point me in the right direction for programming in progressive scan in ULaunchElf? I'd be interested in taking a stab at it on my free time (although I'm pretty busy with work and school, it might take awhile)
Maybe something from my thread about almost the same thing (PS / VGA mode) can help you:
http://www.psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42339
I'm afraid not. While your original post in that thread does mention both VGA and Progressive Scan modes, all the links and specific info deal only with VGA issues, never with anything specific to Progressive Scan.Originally Posted by paulodeleo
Also, since both EP and I completely lack any ability to test Progressive Scan, it is impossible for us to experiment even if we found a half-finished solution. To get something satisfactory we need to have it presented to us as a finished set of routines, ready-to-run as-is. Otherwise we can't add it in at all. Sorry, but those are the facts. We simply don't have the hardware necessary to develop this, so unless someone else steps up to do it (completely) then it won't get done at all.

@dlanor: I just wanted to know if a program like DScaler could help you test progressive scan mode? I first read about someone using this software in this post.
I'm surprised nobody mentioned it before, but maybe there is a reason for that. When I tried to install the software (DScaler v4.1.15), it pops up with the following warning message:
But if that person from this post, was able to get it working for him, maybe it's not as big of a problem as that warning message makes it sound.Warning
This program installs a temporary driver while it runs. This is done so that the code can directly access the hardware. This method of direct hardware control has the following possible side effects that you should know about and understand before running this program.
- In some circumstances if you select the wrong choices for tuner when setting up the card then the EEPROM can get corrupted. We are trying to solve this issue but please be very careful when selecting tuner type. If you do not know exactly what tuner your card has please ask at the forums and do not guess or experiment with all the different choices.
- Due to poor coding on our part DScaler can crash. Of it does crash then this can cause a BSOD in NT or hanging in 95/98, this crashing has been known to cause disk corruption. As a precaution sync the disks before running this program. Use the sync utility from <http://www.sysinternals.com/> for whichever operating system you are running.
- Please do not use kill task to stop DScaler except as a last resort as this can also cause BSOD or hanging.
Known Issues
There appear to be crashing problems with
- Norton Anti Virus 2002
- Running some TV programs using WDM drivers after running DScaler
Please be especially careful if these apply to you and check for the latest news about them at DScaler?s support forum.
EDIT: I really wanted to install this program, but I would be using it with iuVCR video capture software on my PC, which uses my WDM drivers. Although, I'm not sure if my iuVCR software is what they meant by "TV programs".
