Problem transferring PS2 saves to USB
Problem transferring PS2 saves to USB –
03-25-2009,02:11 AM
I'm trying to move a PS2 game save to my USB flashdrive, but I haven't had any success and was wondering if anyone here would know what to do. I used the search function and it seemed like a fairly straight forward process. Perhaps I'm missing something simple here.
Slim PS2 SCPH 77001
Flashdrive is FAT formatted with plenty of space
LaunchELF v4.30
Here's what I'm doing:
1. Open LaunchELF and go to FileBrowser
2. Open MC0 and navigate to target game save
3. Mark game save and bring up the menu
4. Select Copy
5. Navigate back to the top ../ to go back
6. Open Mass
7. Open Menu and select PSUPaste
When I do this, I get a paste failed. I have also tried the other paste options with the same error popping up. Then, I tried using the other USB port with no luck. What step am I missing? Do I need to do something to my flashdrive?

uLaunchELF is v4.30
I'll try other USBs tomorrow and post up the details. I wasn't sure if my method was wrong or if it was my USB.

Sorry Seth, I forgot to update your install to v4.37, though there isn't much of a difference, just support for more mass storage devices at once. You can update it simply by replacing the "BOOT.ELF" file in your memory card with ULE v4.37 which you can find in the ULE forum. This won't fix your issue, but it will have you up to date.
I would suggest as Amp said to try a different USB device. I tested your card with my SanDisk Cruzer 8GB USB device and it worked perfectly before shipping. I usually test that stuff when I install just to make sure everything works okay.
Sorry to hear you're having problems, man.

Oh hell. Now I have to update mine as well. LOL
Either way, I doubt that is the issue here seeing as I do test all these FMCB installs before shipping. Though I've just thought of something to suggest for future releases. Mapping the skin to any MC seeing as I put it on slot 1, but when I move it to slot 2 for whatever reason, my ULE skin is gone.
Off to the ULE forums I go! *pulls out pogo stick and boings away*

TehJawknee: No problem. I'm just happy to have access to all these programs.
I updated uLaunchELF (didn't realize you'd have to copy and paste the new file, took me a second there) and tried a new flashdrive. It worked with the new flashdrive. I wonder why my old one wouldn't work.
For future reference, the flashdrive that didn't work was a Sandisk Cruzer Titanium 512 MB.
Thanks for all of the help.

The USB drivers has been updated, there was a bug on it.
The last uLE is working with my 320GB SATA I, before the update this was not possible, now the new USB driver should work with more and more devices.

This is perfectly normal if you selected the skin file using the normal 'OK' button in the FileBrowser (either 'Circle' or 'Cross' depending on config). In order to make the selection independent of the MC slot you need to select the skin file by pressing the 'R3' button with the skin file highlighted. This will create a path reference starting with "uLE:/" instead of the normal "mc0:/". Such paths imply a search both in the launch folder of uLE and in /SYS-CONF/ of both MCs.
Btw: If you are one of the users unfamiliar with the R3 button, that is the pushbutton hidden under the right joystick. So just press down on the joystick to get a button click...

I have several SanDisk Cruzer drives myself ranging from 4GB to 16GB and they have worked fine with all recent uLE versions. But a common problem with these drives is that they often come with u3 launchpad software installed as a separate partition, which needs to be removed. Apart from that I don't know why your Cruzer wouldn't work, except for the standard reasons applying to all devices. (Proper formatting to FAT32 etc)
