    Just of curiosity how did you make your mastercode?

    I opened the Ar Max's main ELF into ps2dis and from the beginning of the file, I scrolled down until a short distance away I encountered the first occurance of a machine code intruction that reads JAL. I took that instruction's memory address, replaced the first 0 with F (00100098 -> F0100098), and then added +3 to the hex value 00100098, thus getting 0010009B (must do like this). Then, on Maxconvert, I placed these two values side by side (F0100098 0010009B, "F" first) and used the following settings: Input RAW, output AR MAX. Region PAL (I'm in Europe). Game ID 12EA, which is of course just a randomly selected number by me, but Ar Max requires that each game being cheated needs to have an ID unique to that game in the cheat code. I then pressed "convert", and the program obeyed and gave me my master code. After punching that master into Ar Max's code list, I was able to make the cheat engine attach itself to Ar Max itself, proven by the fact that my actual string modifier code did take effect and modified at least something.

    I dunno, somehow I'm getting the feeling that this won't work the way I had in mind, for the reasons listed by ffgriever in his post. I guess I'll still try loading from a memory card at some point, but my hopes aren't very high right now, and I've already committed myself to something else this week, so I'll propably disappear after this. Unless I actually get lucky with this thing. At least my cousin has now agreed to lend me his Swap Magic discs, so I'll propably just use those.

    Through various methods on CodeMastersProject here are all the potential MasterCodes I found. You can do that +3 to address thing to make the new values with the bolded ones too if want to try all possibilities.

    Hello, I had the same problem (ARMax Evo without media player) and no other way to install Free MC Boot. The self patching is possible and I was able to make ARMax boot some other ELF file from memory card. So I attached everything necessary to make this work. For this only a ARMax Evo and a memory card is necessary.
    Have fun

    Has anyone tried this out yet and gotten it to work? Will it work with other versions of AR Max that don't have media player or only the specific 3.60 mentioned in the readme?

    Ok I should have been more precise, the md5 sum and the name of the Action Replay Max Evo ELF file is as following
    e69e408db0379e3ac85fbea79910a923 sles_500.09

    And it is only working with this one but could be adapted to others if needed.

    @ffgriever:
    Do you know if it is possible with CB to patch itself?If it is possible it would be easy with your knowledge about CB to do the same there. Or even convert the CB_Launch patch to regular cheat codes.

    @Spider

    Hi, I have tried your way to start ELF with ARMax 3.60 (md5 sum is the same as your version). But it seems, that I make somethings wrong. If I rerun ARMax with all 3 Codes (Running, Payload 0000, Payload 0001) enabled and then choose Memory Manager, I get only a slim red border at the backround and nothing happends.

    Can you make a more detailed step-by-step howto, please? I followed the instructions in your "README", but somethings are not really clear for me - sorry.

    Here are some questions:
    - What ELF could/should I use as "BOOT.ELF" ? Which ELF do you have used?
    - What should I do with "payload.bin" and "payload.elf" in "XmasLoader.tar.gz" ?
    - If I can use "µLaunch 4.30" as "BOOT.ELF", which one shoud I prefer "BOOT.ELF" or "uncompressed BOOT.ELF" ?
    - Do you have tested your way with a slim or fat PS2 ?

    Thanks

    Sledge
    PS: Sorry for my bad English, it's not my natural language.

    Red means it can't find the second stage BOOT.ELF
    The first stage searchs at:
    mc[01]:/BESLES-00000 DATEL/BOOT.ELF
    which name has your DATEL save directory?It is maybe a region issue. L1 is not region aware at the moment.

    >- What ELF could/should I use as "BOOT.ELF" ? Which ELF do you have used?
    As stated in the readme I used MPLUS-LOADER
    http://lukasz.dk/files/mplus-loader3-src.zip
    but for testing the setup I suggest using
    http://www.lukasz.dk/ps2dev/ttc/demo.../torus-lkz.zip
    especially as MPLUS-LOADER needs some work

    >- What should I do with "payload.bin" and "payload.elf" in "XmasLoader.tar.gz" ?
    nothing they are used to generate the codelist.bin

    >- If I can use "µLaunch 4.30" as "BOOT.ELF", which one shoud I prefer "BOOT.ELF" or "uncompressed BOOT.ELF" ?
    You can't use uLaunchELF directly as second stage, second stage needs to be uncompressed (this restriction is mentioned in the readme) try the torus.elf renamed to BOOT.ELF first

    >- Do you have tested your way with a slim or fat PS2 ?
    latest slim SCPH-90006 I think but this shouldn't mater as long as the Action Replay is the right version.

    @Spider

    First: Thank you for your reply.

    After some troubleshooting, I have found my mistake. I must use "uncrush" and not "copy" to transfer from USB to MC.

    Few minutes ago, I have tested with "torus.elf" as "BOOT.ELF", and it works.

    especially as MPLUS-LOADER needs some work
    Today I have compiled ORG_MPLUS-LOADER.ELF (DDEBUG enabled for messages on screen) and renamed it to BOOT.ELF, but then I got only a black screen. Do you have some hints for me, which modifications are needed on mplus-loader3-src.zip, to get it to work with my PS2 SCPH-75004?
