unfortunately is mplus-loader3 not working any more hmm.. I only tried mplus-loader2 so fare. As it was sufficient enough. It has maybe something todo with the dvd init stuff. Ok but mplus-loader2 is working and I attached the required changes to make it work as boot.elf
diff orig/main.c ./main.c
> // ExitDeleteThread();
< return -1;
> return 0;
diff orig/Makefile ./Makefile
< EE_LDFLAGS = -s -Ttext 0x01800000 # Load ELF at 24 MB offset
> #EE_LDFLAGS = -s -Ttext 0x01800000 # Load ELF at 24 MB offset
< # EE_CFLAGS = -DDEBUG
> EE_CFLAGS = -DDEBUG
after this patch it should start mass:execute1.elf which could be anything like uElf
I think you guys could avoid a lot of mutual confusion if you stop using nonsense inventions of your own to abbreviate uLaunchELF, such as "uLaunch" or "uElf".
The official acronym is "uLE", which has the advantage of being even more brief than your variants, while also being unique to uLaunchELF (unlike your variants).
Best regards: dlanor
thank you for your help. Now it works really good and I could install FMCB without any problems.
Happy New Year!
Holy hell, somebody actually got this working?!?! :wow: Amazing, impressive, wonderful. Though it did include doing more code changes to the AR engine than what it would've been possible with my skills. Spider, you're The Man. :D I must check this out ASAP.
Hi everyone :)
I'm new here on psx-scene but unfortunately i'm a noobie in almost everything, so please take care of me :p i got the AR Max Evo without the Media player, too but it's for an european console and i got a fat PS2
i know this might be a lot of work for you but would someone please upload the patched mplus-loader2 for me?
after some reading i understand why i can't use ulaunch. isn't there a way to "uncompress" the uLE, so i can use it?
is it possible to type in the codes manually, so i don't have to convert any codelists or something?
which codes do i use to get my european version working?
i'm thankful for every help i get =)
you can use the version of "codelist.bin" which is included in "XmasLoader.tar.gz" archive. You doesn't need another one.
The attached version of MPLUS-LOADER2 is modified to search for "FREE_MCBOOT.ELF" at the root of your USB stick. So you can simply use "McBoot 1.8b Noobie Package" from SKS Apps.
First of all, thanks for this tutorial, really kool thing.
I'm, however, probably missing something, because I cannot get it to work on my rather new, not modified, slim PS2 (90004), with the exact ARMAX Evo version as mentioned (checked md5). I always get the "red background" when the BOOT.ELF should be loaded. Here are the steps I took from the beginning:
- transferred "18 Wheeler" save game on USB key
- opened save game file with PS2SaveConverter.exe, ver 0.3 (Ps2SaveBuilder 0.8 simply doesn't work on my Vista), which can read .max files but cannot write them, added the torus.elf as BOOT.ELF to the dir, and saved it as .psu file
- converted the .psu file back to .max file with "mymc" tools and placed it back to USB key
- uncrashed the save file to my MC
All other steps exactly as mentioned throughout this posts.
Any ideas what might be wrong?
Little addition: I have an european ps2.
I've managed to add BOOT.ELF to .max file with Ps2SaveBuilder 0.8 (ran it in Win XP compatibility mode on my Vista), so now I think I did the exact procedure as described, but I still have the same problems :(
What do you mean by "18 Wheeler"-Savegame?
Yes, I've picked some save game from the list from the CDROM (namely 18 Wheeler, but shouldn't matter, I guess).
