All I want to do is be able to transfer game saves between my PS2 and PC using a USB flash drive, and from everything I've read it seems that uLaunchELF will let me do this...

but I just can't get it to boot. Am I missing something?

I've downloaded the latest uLaunchELF zip, extracted it, and burnt the files to CD.
I'm using a chubby PAL PS2, with an old Messiah chip - which has no probs with backup CD/DVDs.

All I see is the PlayStation SCEE logo (like on PS1 games).

I've never made a boot disc before - so forgive me if I'm missing something painfully obvious

    Use this: http://www.psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46792
Just burn the ISO and have fun.

    best regards Jones23

P.S.: Have a look at broodje's signature. He made a video-tutorial on how to make a bootdisc.

Thanks for that - but I get exactly the same thing with the ISO: it gets to the "PlayStation SCEE" logo, and it just hangs there forever. What's my next step? Try another brand of cd, or a dvd maybe?

Don't know what the Messiah needs to boot a CD.
Maybe try to add a bigger dummy file. (e.g. 200MB videofile)

I tried a few dummy file sizes and got the same results. Hangs on SCEE logo.

I also just burnt SNES Station and it runs fine - so I'm guessing my Messiah is still doing it's job.

    Any ideas?

    @mingx

download the file below unzip and burn at the slowest possible speed your recorder allows (CD). if your using a Messiah mod as you probably already know it uses switches, boot as a ps2 disc. I used the uncompressed elf & added a 500mb dummy file

edit: typo...heh...it should be 3.78! the recorded image will boot into v3.78.

flamingo24 - I dunno why, but your bin/cue worked. I think maybe my console is getting a bit flakey in it's old age.

Thanks for your help guys. That big ugly grey uLaunchELF screen is a beautiful site to behold
