Installing elf files –
I have a PS2 Fat with Matrix Infinity modchip, and a Maxtor HDD I just installed. I have ulaunch HDloader, and hdl dump I wish to install, after having HDLoader format the HDD.
I was hoping I could use these with a USB Stick, but the Matrix Infinity Manager only gives options to install things on a memory card, so I'm a bit stuck and have no clue what I'm doing. Could someone help me?
If you already have ulaunchelf, you can just navigate to the usb stick from there and launch your elf files.
Be aware that HDLoader is hopelessly obsolete compared to OPL (Open PS2 Loader).

You can of course install it or run it from a USB stick, using other tools, but HDL itself will never access any other storage device than your internal HDD.
That's one of the many things which makes it obsolete relative to OPL.
But it won't hurt to have both installed. It's just that when you get a taste of OPL you won't want to use HDL anymore.
The Matrix Infinity Manager is completely worthless for anything other than an initial install, to get your setup started.

Once you have uLaunchELF installed on the MC, you should make that your main boot elf (stored as "mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF").
The FileManager of uLaunchELF (aka: uLE) will allow you to copy data between all devices accessible to the PS2, including MC, HDD, USB, CDVD, and even a networked PC (requires running ps2client software on that PC), and it can also be used to launch elf files from any of these devices, either by simple browsing and selection of the files to run directly, or by configuring the uLE menu with shortcuts to such browsed locations.
