Inserting 2nd Disc onwards doesnt read
Inserting 2nd Disc onwards doesnt read –

I boot uLE form Dev1..
If i have a data disc in the drive...then i can access the CDFS: in uLE and browse the disc contents...
But suppose i eject the disc and i put in another data disc, then i go to CDFS: it shows one of the folders of the previous disc...if i try to open it... it opens and shows the same folder inside itself...it keeps goin forever..
like this
CDFS:\mp3\mp3\mp3\mp3\mp3....
It only reads the very first disc i put into the ps2...
Even in SMS player, i can see my mp3 and avi's in the first disc...
but if i eject it and put in another disc...it says "Illegal Disc"
If i want to change discs i have to POWER OFF my ps2.. even reset doesnt make it read the 2nd disc.
I have a Matrix Infinity with v1.82 firmware.

the Matrix site says that the modchip has an auto sleep feature where it switches off after booting the game so that the chip doesnt over heat..
But i presume this is only for ps2 game discs so that antimod games cant detect the chip.
Or then again the chip must be just forcing the first disc inserted to be read as a ps2 disc...hence the files are viewable in uLE also.
Then it must be switching off after forcing it to read the disc....
Is this right ?

I'm not sure about the 'sleep' feature of that firmware. It's been a while since I had an MI chip, and I doubt that the current firmware was available then. But I can say I never had this problem myself.
But there is one uLE setting which can cause failure to update TOCs, and that is if you've turned the "Disc control:" setting to "OFF" in the main configuration menu. That setting needs to be "ON" in order to correctly detect disc changes.
However, with that setting "ON", you will always need a disc in the tray when uLE is starting.

i had a cheap unbranded modchip before..
It used to read all discs one after the other..
hence it was permanently on.
Had to press and hold the power button till blue light came on in order to play movies etc...

i got it reading all discs any time i insert them...
i disconnected the RESET wire of the modchip...
now it works fine...any time i insert a disc it reads it properly...
im guessing since the chip cant detect when the PS2 is turned on cos reset wire is disoconencted it never goes in to sleep mode...
i tried all functions of the modchip to check if it works properly...everything seems to be in order except for one thing...
the modchip disable function doesnt work...
once i hold Start it says disabled...
but when i reset it still boots backups...
other than that its fine...
i dont play online anyway...so its no prob for me..

My modchip is a modbo 4.0... If I cut the reset wire, what are pros (multi disc really enabled i think) and cons??
Thanks!

You just revived a thread that's been dead for fifteen months...
And the subject you're asking about has absolutely nothing to do with uLaunchELF.
Please go to the modchip forum for such matters.
