Help needed to run ulaunch
Help needed to run ulaunch –
Ok i'm total noob, i also searched the topics, but i still have no clue. I would like to run elfs from the usb stick (or memory card, just not from CD anymore), i have Slim PS2 with Crystal Chip. Is it possible to do that? How? Well i got uLaunch from this site and i have a USB Stick and now?
Thanks for any help...
You need the bootmanager for your chip.
With the bootmanager for your chip, just install the ELF file for a DEV1 boot ("DEV1 boot" means: boot from Memory Card). There is no current chip that can boot from USB drives that I know of (but this Crystal Chip seems to be pretty complete, so it might be possible). I have a Matrix Infinity chip so I can't provide the exact details.
You can find a lot of help on the crystal chip homepage (crystal-chips dot com) including the boot manager, firmware updates and everything you need to run (and more importantly, boot from) homebrew applications.
Thanks for your reply, well i do have the hacked firmware and bootmanager already on my ps2, but i don't know if it's possible to launch elfs from usb, i know i need uLaunch for this, but i don't know how or where to install and so on...
For uLaunchElf, you need (not really, but it's the preferred mehod) to launch it from the memory card. You can do it with the bootmanager for your chip.
Once uLaunchElf is launched, you can browse (with the built-in file manager) to the "mass:" device and launch ELF files from there (I'm not sure if that's possible right now, but if it isn't, it'd be a matter of copying from mass: to mc0: and launch it from there).
I managed to start ULaunch from CD and i tried to copy the ULaunch which i renamed BOOT.ELF to MC but when i start the Crytsal BM there's nothing...can anyone tell me step by step what to do?
You need to install it for your bootmanager... as far as I've read, that involves creating an install script. You can find more info at the Crystal Chip wiki (ccwiki.psx-scene.com). There are detailed installation tutorials there for your chip.
Exactly! I had the same problem with applications not working but Jones pointed me to the CC Wiki which gives a very detailed tutorial on how to get them working from BM! Thanks!
