I'm using the cable that came with my ps3 80gb mgs bundle (don't really know if it's a crossover, probably a major issue)
so i plugged the cable to my 2nd spare ethernet port on my computer. My ip is 192.168.1.xx since it's behind a router, would my ps2 have to be 192.168.1.xx or 192.168.0.xx
Either way i tried both and i'm not getting a connection.
i'm using vista, so do i need to open up ports on my firewall and router?
and i'm also using hdl dump and the latest ulaunchelf

most likely the cable that came with your ps3 is a regular patch cable. But since you are using a router, it doesn't matter.
if your router has the IP of 192.168.1.1, then your IPCONFIG.DAT should have something this

I guess it's also going to depend on the IP range set within the router as well. some are defaulted one digit after the router. other are defaulted starting in the x.x.x.100 range. You'll simply have to log on to your router's settings and find out. then just adjust your IPCONFIG.DAT accordinglyCode:192.168.1.xxx 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.1
once done on that end, you just start up ps2 net. then with a FTP client, you'll enter the ps2's IP in it, and do an anonymous login.
i think i should have explained it more. my router is too far from my ps2 so i decided to do the crossover method.
setup's something like this:
internet---router---computer---ps2
well i was looking at http://ps2ulaunchelf.pbwiki.com/ps2ftp and i did the tci/ip settings but vista has it listed as ipv4. Vista shows the 2nd connection as an unidentified network and limited (don't know if that matters).
my settings are (computer ip behind router is 192.168.1.103):
192.168.1.111
255.xxxxxxx
192.168.1.1
ps2's
192.168.001.111
255xx
192.168.001.1
Finally, after disabling the firewall, I try connecting with hdl_dump gui v2 and it doesn't work.

I reccomend placing a hub by your PC to plug it and the ps2 into. this way you're pc still has net access while you can ftp your ps2 without the crossover cable.
i'm still unsure if the cable i have is crossover.
anyways i tried connecting to my ps2 server with flashfxp and it's also not working...

You should set you computers 2nd ethernet port to settings like
IP: 192.168.0.1
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.2
and PS2 settings
IP: 192.168.0.2
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
I believe that should work, at least from what i have gathered from these forums.

No. That was never implemented in the original FTP server before it was merged into uLE, and we have seen no particular reason to add it. Since the HOST protocol is so much more effective than FTP, the only update that I have seriously considered for the FTP server is to remove it entirely. It really serves very little purpose nowdays. But for the time being we have let it remain as-is.Quote:

Nope, it never worked. It's probably do to the same reason ps2netFS using fsclient also doesn't. So the disc device is not even in the listing since it was never a working device.Quote:
