Burning a DATA CD for uLaunchELF
Burning a DATA CD for uLaunchELF –
02-07-2009,05:48 AM
hey all, me AGAIN.
just wondering what I have to do when burning a data CD so that i can actually browse its contents in uLaunchELF... I tried burning a couple of SNES rom files to a CD earlier today, when I chose "CD" in SNES Station it didn't see the files, so then I checked in uLaunchELF and uLaunchELF wasn't seeing any files either - but obviously, my PC is.
Are there any special steps I have to take to make a data CD readable by uLE?

Are you using modchip and how do you run SNES Station...from disk or mc,hdd, usb, dev mode
I don't think burning method has something to do with this here because on my PS2 I can run literally any CD/DVD and every app see the contents there

whoops, that would have been helpful info for me to provide in the first place
i'm using FMCB in combination with uLaunchELF, and running SNES Station from mc0 as well as uLaunchELF, neither of them can see the contents of a CD when I burn just a normal CD.

Do you have modchip?
I run it FMCB=>SNES(from my mc card) and I have modchip.
Also when you place the disk inside do you hear it spinning or it just spin for 2-3 seconds and then stop

i don't have a modchip.
why would i need a modchip when i have fmcb combined with esr and ulaunchelf |:
also it sounds like the disk doesn't even spin up... just sits there for a couple of seconds trying to spin up then stops.
i've tried other data cds, all do the same thing.

Because FMCB add more abilities to the modchip too and you're not forced to use only ule for every app that want to run and ESR isn't 100% compatible with all PS2 games(it can't run every game)and ESR can't run PS1 games.

And this is most likely your problem...the PS2 without modchip can run ONLY original PS1/2 games,DVD-Video and CD Audio disks and those symptom that you get when you place a disk that the PS2 recognize it as non PS1/2 original game or DVD-Video or Audio disk.

you're wrong, PS2 without modchip can run ESR patched backups, which are NOT original PS2 games.
does anybody other than this guy have any ideas/advice for me?

Why's talking about ESR,I'm talking about original PS2 with no way to run backup and you almost reach your answer.
"PS2 without modchip can run ESR patched backups"
So what are you truing to run now...not patched disks which the PS2 recognize as non support medias for original PS2.Do you actually know why the PS2 allow running esr patched games?

You don't look very happy about why your PS2 wont run your disks

I believe you have to combine the CD Walkthrough Guide from the official SNES-Station website, with the method of getting homebrew to load from a CD using ESR. There is also the possibility I am completely wrong here, since I don't use ESR, and there is no way to run homebrew on a non-modded PS2. I'm assuming uLE can't see the contents of the CD because your PS2 is not modded, but it's been so long since I tried a CD in a non-modded PS2 I forget what happens.
If you have the FAT PS2 (not slim), then maybe you can use the SNES-Station HDD version instead?
Hardware: PS2 v7 (GH-022) NTSC | Crystal Chip 2.0 Pro SLE | Sony Network Adapter | 300GB Segate HDD
Software: uLaunchELF 4.40 | HDLoader 0.8c | HDL_Dump 0.8.6+GUI | SMS 2.9 (Rev.3)
My Projects: uLaunchELF - skins/template | skin template readme | documentation (contributor)

first ESR is only for DVDs not CDs ..
second USB Snes station is more stable and up to date than HDD version
