Will uLF work as a bootable disk made with Broodje's manual? (Yes, I have a MI.)
That is, just copy the compressed BOOT.ELF, LAUNCHELF.CNF and make the SYSTEM.CNF.

If this works, can I use it to copy saves to a USB drive? Where should I put the USBD.IRX file?

My problem is, I have a full memory card and don't want to loose my savegames, but I want to save other games and the SMS elf, so I need to copy the saves to a pen drive.

    Please enlighten me?

Sure. That should work just fine.

Normally you should not use any external USBD.IRX driver. The one built into the program can handle most USB storage devices. Use of an external driver is only intended for those cases where the internal one has failed, and even then it is quite likely that the external ones will fail as well. (Because the internal one, from ps2dev.org, is the most compatible one of all.)

If you do need to use an external driver, then you can store that file wherever you please, provided that the correct path to it is indicated by the value of the configuration variable USBD_FILE in LAUNCHELF.CNF . When using the internal driver though, you should just leave that variable blank (its original default value).

My problem is, I have a full memory card and don't want to loose my savegames, but I want to save other games and the SMS elf, so I need to copy the saves to a pen drive.
Once uLaunchELF is running you can copy MC saves to/from any PS2 storage device, including USB. The only real limitation is that a very few games use filename characters that are illegal on some other media (such as FAT filesystems on a USB drive). For such cases an IDE-connected PS2 HDD works better, as it allows some more characters in filenames.

Regardless of the backup medium, when copying gamesave folders to/from MC you should always use the mcPaste command instead of the normal Paste command. This ensures that MC-specific attributes and timestamps are saved to, or restored from, an extra file created for that purpose on non-MC media by the mcPaste command. If you forget this, then those attributes and timestamps will be lost, and that may cause the game to regard those saves as corrupt.

    Best regards: dlanor

Thanks! uLF seems more and more like a miracle application, as it does far more usefull things than I could even imagine in just one ELF.

I got the part with mcPaste for saves from reading the guide in this forum, but it would be nice if there was a more in-depth documentation available (maby I'm just to stupid to find it, I don't know).
