Bluetooth over USB possible?

I just played around with a wiimote on my pc and
explored the data transfer and networking
possibilities of bluetooth.

Holding in mind, that you can get a usb-bluetooth dongle
for 1,50 Euro I thought that is one thing the PS2 should
have!

OK, BT is not the fastest thing (3MBit/s) but has the advantage
to be wireless.

I have no doubt how many calculation power is needet to do a driver
or how useful it would be, but it would be nice to have something
to play with.

And may be interesting for people without network adaptor.

Everything is possible for sure. You just need to code the drivers, that's all. :)

still will be limited by the USB 1.1 nature of the PS2 ports..... can not go any faster than that and any conversion through drivers from BT to usable data will make it even slower.....

Indeed, and since USB is just about the slowest storage medium we have for the PS2 (MC is the only competitor for that title), and definitely the slowest mass storage medium, adding Bluetooth driver delays to that slow speed would probably make it too slow for practical use.

Those who absolutely need wireless connection to a PS2 will probably have better luck using some wireless access point for the normal LAN connector instead, much as you would to add a new computer or NAS unit to an existing wireless LAN. This way the effective LAN speed should not be any lower than with a wired LAN connection, as the limiting factor here is not the physical interface and as no extra drivers are needed. The normal PS2 LAN drivers should work as-is, and since it is they that set the PS2 LAN speed limit that should remain unchanged. (Though I haven't really tried that myself, as I use only wired LAN here.)
