if sms could trick the ps2 inbuilt dvd player into playing the VIDEO_TS folder.
this means i could use dvd decrypter to backup my entire dvd collection to VIDEO_TS folders (.VOB files) on my 250gb usb hdd then play them on sms.
i wouldnt have to bother swapping discs, finding them & making sure they wont get scratched as they will all be on the usb hdd.
I know this probelly will never happen, my question is how hard would it be to program something like this?
@raw15: ...usb on PS2 is too slow, so, though, it's quite possible to trick that "inbuilt dvd player", it will be some kind of slideshow ...
its not too slow for divx files 700mb
i guess it might be too slow for those big VOB files tho
that feature could still be avaliable for the ps2 HDD users
@raw15: ....VOBs have 12Mb/s bitrate (usually), while usb on PS2 performs at ~500KB/s = 4Mb/s - 3 times slower than necessary. Same applies for network (which is faster than usb, but still not enough)...
yeah thats fair enough.
but the fat ps2's that have a ide hard drive that would be fast enough to play VOB's off it
@raw15: ...yes. From what I saw the only thing that have to be implemented for that is just 2 .IRX modules (and maybe loader)...
this would be a great feature in a future release
...well, the funny thing is "...is it legal?..." ...
I think VCD support is a must for the ps2, im pissed ive got to convert all my 200 VCD's to AVI.
