What DivX codec?

If i were to encode a avi to use with sms what codec would be best divx 6 (curent) divx 5x or the hacked divx 3x?

Xvid, any certain version? Anybody use the one in the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack?

...just don't use GMC and QPel options during encoding (I also advice to turn "Use Chroma Motion" option off). Next version will hopefully support "Dolby Digital" passthrough mode via optical output (S/PDIF), so, if you have an equipment able to deal with it, then you can also encode your audio track in ac3 format, so there will be more CPU resources available for video decoding

Wow!,AC3 passthrough finally come ,don't know how many CPU resources can save for video decoding if i have some movie with AC3 format .

@pythonjosh: ...it will only have an advantage if you have an equipment able to decode "Dolby Digital" bitstream (PS2 won't do that, so there will be more resources available for video decoding). Otherwise it doesn't matter...

I've had greaat luck using DivX's DVD Player standard... um the home theater setting I believe... near DVD if not DVD quality... works like a $2 whore putting her kids through college.

Do you guys use WinAVI Converter? If not, what prog do you guys use to convert vid files?
