USB flash drive not showing files

Hi

I hope someone will be able to help me with this problem. I have copied an avi file onto a USB flash drive. When I plug the drive into my PS2, UlaunchELF shows the file. However, when I run SMS, it does not show any files on the flash drive.

Any advice?

What format do you have your USB Drive? FAT, FAT32, ect...
And what brand / size is it?

Hi

It's a Kingston 1GB Datatraveler and I have it formatted to FAT32

does it show other files like MP3 ?

and which version of both uLaunchELF and SMS you are using ?

and remember some Kingston drives are not compatible

You can try using the "Older USB drivers" on his site.
Simple Media System for Playstation 2 (SMS) downloads

Some of my USB drives only work with the older drivers.

You must put them in the SMS folder on the MC that is created once you save your settings.

...there's a small problem with latest USB driver (it handles only devices with physical sector size of 512 bytes). I have just fixed that (with help of "Alfonso") so I'll update SMS soon...

Hey thanks, I had saw a few others saying they had random USB errors, movies would end too soon, on Rev. 4.
I'm glad you guys figured out what it was.

I copied the older usb drivers onto the MC. SMS now reads the files on the USB flash drive. I can play mp3s, however when trying to play an avi file, SMS displays a red loading circle in the middle of the screen and then goes blank.

SMS version: 2.8 (Rev.6)

Ok, I have upgraded to the latest version of SMS but still no joy. When I try to play an .avi, SMS begins to buffer the file and shows a red circle rotating in the middle of the screen. The light on my USB flash drive also flashes. After a few seconds, the screen goes blank.
