Hi Webby,
I also have a QNAP TS-201 with two 500Gb HDDs in RAID1 mode and I am running the latest firmware.
The strange thing is that I can see al shares/directories and files on my TS-201 from SMS, but when I want to play an AVI or MP3, SMS hangs with the message "Detecting file format".
When I connect to my Windows XP PC from SMS, everything works fine.
Can you play movies and mp3's from your TS-201?
Any idea what the problem could be?

Yup, why not? I was thinking about Russian translation - if someone is interested
Not sure how much time I could spend on this one as I am quite busy, but at least I could try.

Is there a way to set the PS2s HDD to act as a server for other PCs or PS2s to browse through?

Hi,
After all this time...only now do I know what is SMB all about....how ignorent I am...I've been using RadhostClient all this time while I have my home PCs networked sharing files across network....
A big thank you to the thread starter and also to those who contribute to the SMS Manual and others in this thread...
THANK YOU!!!

UPnP would still be very welcome, as that would practically mean that the PS2 could play anything;
with a reasonable media server, the PS2 would be able to play MKV files through transcoding on the media server’s side.
