Ubuntu + samba + PS2

please try this as i said before it DID work for me

username@computername<---IMPORTANT!!!

i found this out because i use vnc on my home network so i can access that pc from my laptop in the living room (yes i'm that lazy:) ), any way when vnc would come up i noticed that instead of just my username it had the format of username@computername, so i tried it on sms and IT WORKED!!, so before giving up at least give this a try, then report back and i'll shut up :), also everything is CASE SENSITIVE!!!

tried this, not working either. I can see my shares, but I can not access them (same as if I had not specified a username and password at all)

a wireshark dump tells me "Access Denied" when trying to enter one of the shares

I will try an older version of SMS, though.

did you make sure about case as linux is VERY picky about case, if you did i have no idea, if not i'd try that just because i have a NAS and if i'm not careful about case it will also refuse access even to pcs in my network (no i haven't gotten it to work in sms, yet), and yes this NAS runs linux, also if i'm not careful about case in ubuntu it will refuse access so please make sure about your case of everything!!

BTW i tested this on a fairly recent SMS (haven't tried in a while as i'm still learning linux and haven't been booting to it very much lately, trying to figure out how to switch between OSs through VNC and have vnc sever run before login in linux:) )

I was having this problem with Ubuntu Hardy. I just turned off encryption in the smb.conf file and now it works perfectly.
