Tried to load skin, now SMS won't boot at all?

I had 1.7r3 running, decided to up to 1.7r5 and play with skins.. so, got 1.7r5 in, working fine. Started to try skins, finally figured out that I needed SMI format instead of SKN, and used proper tool to create the SMI file.. also found somewhere here a SMS.ZIP with a (supposedly) working skin.. put the SMI on the MC (mc0:/SMS), loaded SMS, and background won't show. Read that deleting CFG file on MC would fix it, which I deleted.. same thing, no skin.

Then it quit loading. Now all I get is a black screen, buttons won't do anything, tried START, down repeatedly, then X (hoping to hit "exit SMS"), no luck.

I deleted *ALL* files from the SMS folder, tried v1.6r1, v1.7r3, r5 and even r6 independently.. all go black and never load up. Tried loading them off hdd:+ELFS as well, same thing.. The mc0/SMS folder is empty except for SMS.ELF, and still nothing.

I can't seem to find any other SMS files on the MC or the HDD.. and yet, SMS will not load. Going to dig out a different MC card and try to load it off that...

Anyone got a suggestion for me??

Too bad you're having trouble. Maybe your MC is the problem. The only suggestion I have is to download a fresh copy of SMS. How are you launching the ELF?

Was using Filezilla and every upload (figured out by upping a new 0.8b HDL.ELF) was being corrupted..

Gott ahold of FlashFXP demo and tried it, problems solved!!

All my PS2 Exploit problems seem to originate outside the PS2, go figure.

I've actualyl got it down to the point I can FTP, and when I get done, things still work! Life is good!!

What's the "proper tool" to create the SMI file?
Actually, I've no idea of how to make the skin, 'cause I don't have a user manual. the link is invalid now.
