Supported formats and codecs? –
I've been looking into SMS documentation, but I haven't been able to find any list or something about the current codecs and formats supported by SMS 2.1 rev2, including both video mode and audio mode (I mean audio embeded into video and standalone audio like a single mp3 file).
I'm very interested in knowing this, any clue? I've looked into SMS readme file, available in the svn, but I dunno if the release notes are referring to the initial release or updated to the last one.
Thanks in advance.
I'm no real authority on this, but as far as I know the following is already supported:

(At least that was how it worked last time I checked.)
MP3 both for AVI files and free-standing MP3 files
M3U files work only for linking to MP3 files, but not for AVI files
AC3 for AVI files
I believe AVIs with embedded subtitles should also be supported in the latest version (I haven't tested it though), and I think EEUG has been working on some other non-standard variations as well, but I'm not sure what (if any) of that has made it into the current version.
I may well have missed some features, so anyone else that knows better should feel free to fill in what I left out.
