Prevetik! First off, ochen krutaya programa... spasibo, EEUG!
- A friend of mine has an un-modded slim PS2. The only way I saw to make it easy on him was to go with the CDDAFS method of playing a movie.
I grabbed the package with CDXplorer and went to town! I downloaded three small video trailers from Divx.com and dragged'n'dropped them to make my BIN/CUE. Burned with Disc-at-once/96 right from within Nero 7.
Unfortunately, either the PS2 cannot read the CDDAFS trick on little 8CM CDs, or I made a mistake somewhere. (For the record, the PS2 has no problem reading 8CM CDs for things like LaunchELF, etc.) After reading the manual, it said that the CD would just be un-playable in a PC and you would hear static for the audio tracks, this is exactly what happens... but on the PS2! It seems to not be booting the CD at all, and just treats it like an audio CD.
The only thing I did was replace the older SMS.elf that came in the package with the newest (1.5 as of this writing) version. Did the later revisions of SMS drop the trick support?
The bottom line is, I want to make my friend a simple CD with a movie that he could easily play by just putting the CD in his un-modded PS2.
- DVD-R Trick
- The other question was pertaining to this("How to make a readable (no swap) media DVD disc") thread: I have not tried to burn it yet, but where does the SMS.elf file go? Or is SMS.elf one of the dummy files (re-named to one of the VOB files for execution)? I wanted to know if this was basically the same as the above trick (CDDAFS), but with a DVD-R instead of a CD-R?
- I have a slim PS2 myself, but I have mine not only chipped, but also fitted with the HDD mod (XBC HDconnect). Is there support for this? I do not have a memory card, and would like to keep everthing loaded off the HDD. Movies, skins, settings, etc. Is this possible? Is it as simple as making a specific partition name (SMS?) on my HDD and sticking in all my movies and SMS files there? All the things I have read (most recently being the custom skins, which were shown to be loaded from MC only?) have had a memory card used, or detachable USB drive/pendrive. Is there support for the V12 HDD mod?
Also, if possible, could someone reply with a simple walk-through for creating a custom name partition? I think WinHIIP supports this, but I got confused the last time I looked at that screen...
Thanks in advance,
