sms stopped working

My ps2 stopped working a while back but I have FMCB so i can still run ULE and so, My sms stopped working when i run sms i says "Initializing sms"and it just stays like that anyway i can start it??

u could try to delete the sms.cfg (settings file)

and install the latest sms release (rename to SMS.ELF)

You are being too vague to be clearly understood.
If your PS2 stopped working completely then you would not be running anything at all on it, let alone booting FMCB and uLE, so you must mean something else.

Again I don't understand you. How can you run SMS on a console that doesn't work.
Before you have explained what you mean, there is no way for anyone to help you.
Also, if SMS has displayed that it is initializing, then you do not need any help to 'start it'.
It has already started, since it is displaying anything at all.

I can only deduce (since you never said it) that you have some kind of problem that prevents normal use of your PS2 (possibly failed CDVD drive/laser), leaving it in a state where you can boot some homebrew with varying success. And for the case of SMS it seems to get stuck in the initializing state where it looks for supported IO devices (such as the CDVD drive).

Before anyone can give advice that is relevant to your problem, you must first describe it in detail. We are not telepaths, and there are limits to how far we can get by guesswork.

sorry for not clearly stating my problem.
my problem is that my ps2 stopped playing my ps2 games
I could still play the original games through ule.
when i go into ule i choose disc0: my ps2 get stuck for about 2mins then i,m in the disc and i can just choose the elf file and the game starts and runs perfectly.
but that's not the case for backup i just get an empty disc.
but i don't care about that because i got a psp instead.
2 mouth later this method stopped working but i can still boot into ule and other homebrew reality player pro to watch my movies.

the problem that sms doesn't full start it get stuck on "Initializing sms"
the loading thing just keeps on spinning and spinning.
the thing is that reality player pro buffers a lot and i hate that i like sms layout more, and sms is more up to date.

could this be to the fact that sms is trying to Initializing the cd\dvd driver
and my ps2 stopped playing games(maybe can't find my cd/dvd driver)
although i have the cd disabled but still one of the step of Initializing is Initializing of cd driver
