SMS slowly becoming useless for me...
SMS slowly becoming useless for me... –
Nothing is coming out as AVI anymore(stuff is barely coming out xvid anymore...). I know h264 is probably impossible but I'm still looking forward to container(MKV and OGM... and ogg audio as well I guess) support. I still use SMS 1.7 Rev 3 I think because it's played every AVI I've thrown at it flawlessly... but someone said some guy made a container(MKV) supported SMS awhile back... I never saw it though.
I'd also like to see PMP container support, be great to have files that can be switched between my PS2 and PSP(I also tried compiling SMS on the PSPSDK, too many errors out of my league lol)
It MAY be useless to you at the moment ..
Try to be humble and appreciate
At the moment I see progress/new feature being added/bugs being fix/network optimize/codec being added/SMS being optimized with machine language level.
Well SMS 2.0 Rev 4.0 is very optimized for me and others.
It playback all the media supported we throw in........
unless is to intensive to be playable on Playstation 2 hardware..
If wish to brag ....... SMS not optimized and supported to your level.
Try Very hard ...coding SMS to improve it ..
Try Game Shark Media player ,MEDIO and Xploder Media Player before criticizing
SMS .................................................. ......

lol. useless for you, not us. too bad ure watching a movies rls that use other format other than avi.
actually, avi still being use by alot of groups who rls video rips. check vcdquality.com u can check how many groups still using it. this groups wont chnge their video format to other. unless majority of them switch to a particular format. but it wont happen for now. xvid is a perfect. other format such as mkv, ogm are new and not well use by rippers.
You guys act like I said it was useless, it's not there yet, just media is changing. And how can you say MKV and OGM are not new? MKV has been around for a while and both are now used instead of AVI(the only AVI I still get of anything I watch is Lost, every other show I watch is MKV). You'd think that with an older series, it'd be in AVI because that's what was used then right? Nope, it's almost always MKV and OGM because it supports dual audio and subtitles better. It makes me sad.
...it became useless for me a long time ago ...
Not a good thing considered your the main dev <_<

I made a topic about this awhile back, out of my league but did you ever try compiling SMS on the PSPSDK? I tried but I'm not intelligent enough figure out what all needs to be fixed(probably a lot). It'd be nice for a native AVI player on PSP.
...no time for SMS issue is mainly due to the fact that I've changed my work some time ago and work-home travel time is increased significantly. As for PSP then I just don't know anything about PSP hardware except that it has some circuits to deal with h.264 (just like PS2 has IPU for mpeg1/2). Maybe I'll try to look at h.264 code one day, but first things first . Btw., I never saw a single .mkv file in my life (though I've bought recently a portable device which came with ripping software that makes .ogg files only, so, I'm considering to implement .ogg in SMS also)...
But who is really using OGG?!
I'd prefer network streaming in SMS (directly from my tv-software)
maybe you could use the "PMP VLC" source code (Player for PSP)

The anime scene is an avid user of .mkv, .ogm, and .mp4 files.
