SMS: Simple Media System Released!

EEUG has finally released his very and the first fully open sourced media player for the ps2. So far he has preliminary support for PS2 hardware optimized DivX/XviD decoding, MP3 decoding and a custom audio file system simillar to UMCDR. CVS does not have a compiled version but lucky for you we have put up a compiled right here for all to enjoy including the full readme and cd creation tool. So far it only runs from host but hopefully soon this will become a full blown ps2 project. Do i hear PS2MediaCenter anyone? ;)

This sounds very nice. I've also seen some impressive work being done right here in homebrew forum on the open source launchelf code. Would be really great to merge these two projects into a media center/launcher kind of like the XBOX dashboards

Not to bash on anybody here, but the fact that it is open source is NICE and will hopefully let this project go further.

ye i testd it but not working when you launche it whit launch elf from MC/1

all i get is

CD Not Reconized. Executing Was Terminated. i had a first time my hdloader disc and second time was a movie whit avi movie

if i just burn the .elf , .irx, and an .avi file will that load...??? (just like booting any other cd-r)

i dont understand the cd creation tool... is that just like cdgen.. or is it specific for this media player... do i need to use the cd creation tool to create the .bin file??? (after draggin the .efl , .irx, and .avi)

only works from host. ps2link or naplink. then have your cd ready with the cd creation util.
