@dlanor: about that codecs... I know that they have nothing to do with shutdown, I was refering to audio delay issue. I mean that I want to know what codecs You use to recompress movies adio, because I want to get rid of audio delay. I was refering to previews topic
Normally I do not use the widespread 'Lame MP3 codec' but instead use the fraunhofer MP3 codec that comes with "Windows Media Player 11" (though I don't use that player at all, preferring MPC).

But the normal installation package of WMP11 does not add all the stuff needed for using that codec from other encoding applications like VirtualDub.

For this you need two things, regardless of whether you use WMP11 or not.

First you need the "l3codecp.acm" codec file in the usual codec collection at "C:\WINDOWS\system32\". I can't share that file with you since it is copyrighted, but hopefully you do have it in your system already (assuming WMP11 installed that for you).

The second thing you need is a set of registry entries telling other applications that this codec exists, as well as its names (both as filename and for GUI presentation). Thus you can activate its use for VirtualDub and other applications by using the registry file I've prepared and attached to this post (inside a ZIP).

NB: That registry file contains no copyright registration keys, or any other copyrighted material, but only normal registry keys for how other applications can access the codec file already installed. So it doesn't violate any of our site rules. It's intended use is for WinXP, so I can't vouch for the functionality of these registry entries on other systems.

If you wish you can open the register file in a normal text editor for inspection before using it, and to activate it you simply double-click it and then confirm that you want its contents added to the registry. After doing so you should have an additional entry named "MPEG Layer-3" in the audio compression codec list of VirtualDub.

One of the advantages of this codec over the 'Lame' codec is that it allows some additional bitrate settings I can't get with 'Lame', including my favourite setting of "96 kBit/s, 48.000 Hz, Stereo, 12KB/s".

Btw: Here "48.000" does not mean just 48 since this codec has european origin (as does the MP3 method itself, invented by the makers of this particular codec). In Europe we mostly use a decimal comma rather than a decimal point. So here "48.000" means the same thing an american would write as "48,000"

Its HOST? Im not sure what is what
    Im using PS2ClientLoader_v131.
Like pythonjosh said, that means you use host protocol, as you can also see in the network settings of SMS, where your active "Network protocol" is shown as "ps2dev/host".

Yes, that is always a good idea when having odd problems with SMS, as EEUG has the bad habit of not always changing the revision code after a bug fix, and sometimes without announcung the fix clearly. So the fixed version may look identical to the bugged one in these cases...

I always have networking autostarted in SMS, and I always turn off the console using the gamepad shortcut Select+Circle to end my SMS sessions, except when I instead use Select+Triangle, to relaunch uLE. Both these features work error-free for me.
    Hmmm,
SMS (New 2.9 Rev.1 build) is freezing on me when I try to exit SMS..
Even freezes on Auto shutdown as well when a movie is done within SMS..

At first I thought it was just the save file on the MC that was giving me issues with the new build..
However I have delete the save file on my MC and made a new save file from the new build on my MC and it still freezes..

Older releases of SMS never had this proublem.. Hmmm..
I do not use Auto network connect on start up..
I run all my files throu Rad Host Client (v1.8a)..
    v9 PS2~FMCB v1.8

    Any ideas?...
    Good update by the way..
Just wish I could go back to ule once done with a movie or have auto shutdown work sents it worked out well for my kids & wife..

NOTE: Ive also tryed using the short cuts as well with in SMS to go back to ule or shut down SMS..
Doing so will freeze the app as well..

For me it is the other way around.

Long ago most SMS versions gave me this problem, although it could also vary with different uLE release versions. I think EEUG still had problems with the elf launching then.

Then there was a period when most SMS versions worked fine for uLE exit, though I still had the problem occasionally on a semi-random basis. (Also similar semi-random init failures, freezing SMS at the very start.)

But most recent versions work fine in regards to these things, and I haven't had such problems for quite a while.
(I can still get an occasional init failure during device init, but this is so rare I don't even care about it.)

I do not use Auto network connect on start up..
I run all my files throu Rad Host Client (v1.8a)..
    v9 PS2~FMCB v1.8
I've tried both with Samba and HOST protocol, and it works fine here for both cases, and as for boot methods I use FMCB on my v15, and variously FMCB or Dev1 on my v7 console. And of course I use uLE v4.30 in all cases.

    Any ideas?...
    I'm afraid not...

    Good update by the way..

[/QUOTE]That is odd if it works for them and not for you.
Are they really using an identical setup ?

That is to be expected when the menu commands don't work, as the gamepad shorcuts are just different ways of invoking the same routines.

Will this be counted as bug as my ps2 isn't fully functional as you would read in the post
although other homebrews work like reality player and ule.
    http://psx-scene.com/forums/official...d-working.html
could this be to the fact that sms is trying to Initializing the cd\dvd driver
and my ps2 stopped playing games(maybe can't find my cd/dvd driver)
although i have the cd disabled but still one of the step of Initializing is Initializing of cd driver

I have been looking at the src and i noticed this
    Code:
    CDDA_Init       ();
     CDVD_Init       ();
    Main.c

I can't find a downloadable src to delete the code and see if it works
any idea how to bypass this

    I wrote my comment wrong..
What I ment was that it was good for the wife & kids to have autoshut down work..
Think of it as a sleep timer for the kids..
They always forget to turn off the PS2 and some times leave it on throu out the nite.. This way once the movie ends the PS2 would shutdown and they would have sleep timer on the telly as well so the TV would shut off as well..

It was just a good set up to have the TV and the PS2 shut down sents the wife and kids uselly leave them on throu out the nite other wise..

NOTE: Im also running the 4.30 build of ule..
Must be just a fluke release for the v9 then..
The last older version still works as it suppost to.. Guess Ill just use that till another release comes out..
    Thanx for the input dlanor..

I don't know what it is that creates the problem for you guys as it works perfectly here, both on a fat PS2 and on a slim PStwo. Both are booted through FMCB and normally use LAN to play videos directly from WinXP/Win2K shares using Samba protocol to access them.

Have you tried cleaning out your configs by deleting the "mc0:/SMS/" folder (after backing it up of course), so as to test a completely new configuration, starting from scratch ?

Perhaps there is some old setting in a file that is incompatible with newer versions, causing this odd problem. Since the SMS.cfg file is an undocumented binary file, it is hard to make any sensible repairs to it, but SMS should create a new one with properly working defaults when started without any settings at all on the MC.

I suspected exactly the same, and did just that.. A new install of SMS, a new SMS folder, even a new sms.cfg

I just tested that if i DONT PLAY A VIDEO then the shutdown works fine, if i stream something from radhost then exit back to the main menu, sms freezes on shutdown..

To confirm dlanor, nothing changed with my setup beyond updating to 2.9 Rev1. I still boot from FMBC 1.7, i havent updated to 1.8, i still connect via radhost.. I have a memory stick in slot that i use for local media, this hasnt been removed in ages..

I'm pretty sure using 2.9rev1 that i have shut down my ps2 a few times with the command and it "did" work,
Though now i think about it that might have been the Rev1 that EEUG first released before he did the fix for media type jpg not showing on the allowed filter list, which i emailed EEUG to report..

EEUG didnt list this as a change on the changelog or change the revision but he did email me to say he had changed it to the new Rev1 with the fix the next day,

i'm wondering if an bug crept in there and some people didnt download the revised Rev1 as they didnt know of the fix or the update and still have the day1 version, did you update it since? do jpgs show when you filter file types?

I didn't notice a problem till someone else mentioned it and i tried a few consecutive tests.. All have failed since i started checking.. I dont have the original Rev1 to check, typically i have every other version, but i overwrote that one.. arg..

The clock counter seems to continue flashing so i dont think its "crashed" as such, just frozen on the shutdown command..
