Weird! When I look at this newer version of "_set_id" I have to agree that it too must recognize the files that failed for me.

Earlier today I consistently got playback failure for all files named with extra periods before the extension, but that no longer happens. So it seems you were right all along.
But the real mystery is why I got those failures earlier, if SMS was not responsible. I can only guess at some problem with the PC the files were to be streamed from, or the samba protocol used to do that.
Sorry to have wasted your time EEUG, but the earlier test results seemed 100% solid.

EEUG: I did a lot of tests and discover something.
If I boot the uLaunchElf using CD and after start SMS (in the memory card or CD or pen-drive), the network works fine!
If I boot the uLaunchElf in the memory card and after start SMS (in the memory card or CD or pen-drive), no network.
I test with two modchips, Thunder Pro II and Matrix clone.
And I open a SCPH-75001 and the chip of NIC is the same og 79001.

@dlanor: ...never mind. Moreover I screwed the things up a bit with that "Play all" list in one of the latest versions (somehow automatic menu item selection doesn't work (so first item is always selected)). Thanks to your note I've fixed that;
@iscarelli: ...I have no idea about that. At least hardware is the same, maybe something is not properly initialized (modchip issue or what ???)...
I deleted the config file, now it works again!

SMS just freeze for like 10 second and then say unsupported format...this is on 2.8 I don't have the older version anymore to try but I remember that those mp3s are working.
I'm starting SMS using dev modes and play the files from USB flash drive
@vsub: ...I can't help you without a sample clip ...
Mp3s not clip and here I choose the most equal mp3s,the one is working and the other is not...they are exactly the same bit rate,encoding,bit rate mode and etc

Also I forgot to mention,when I play one mp3 file and repeat it sometimes when it start again there is some really bad sound before the song to begin again...it's random so I can't tell you on how much repeats this occur
I have the same "no video" problem with v2.8. I deleted the config file & the problem dissapeared, or so i thought. The picture was displayed in the wrong ratio for that file, so i pressed the square button a few times to change it and lost the video.
I looked into this more & found that the video doesn't display when I have selected any of the 3 "wide" choices. Letterbox, Full Screen, etc video works fine.
Firstly, I must say how much I love the program. It's saved me probably hundreds of hours of re-encoding and the like. It plays 99.9% of my avi's flawlessly. However, I ran into a snag yesterday when a .avi of a movie I was watching was terribly out of sync. I opened it up in GSpot and the bitrate, both audio and video wise, seemed suitable for SMS and not out of the ordinary. I ran the .avi on my PC and it worked perfectly. I know it's probably been talked about already, but any options as to how to proceed? Not really a biggie, mind you, but I was curious as to why this particular .avi was affected. Thanks.
@vsub: ...I've got your clips and I'll try to looka at them...
@Tec: ...these "wide" modes were not my "inventions" and I really don't know what they are all about...
@JohnnyS2: ...you can adjust A/V sync by pressing "circle" button during playback to activate "adjustment mode" and then use "R1/L1" (or "R2/L2" (don't remember)) to set a desired delay. There're many reasons for this unsynchronized audio-video (mostly bad muxing software, it's not a real problem to fix it, but then clip load time will be very long as the whole file should be analyzed to determine proper presentation timestamps). There can also be the case that clip has, for example 50fps frameratio (I saw one). Such things are not supported...
