OK. I got it to work.
I simply had to remove the SMS.cfg and SMS.hst files from mc0:/SMS/ using uLE
Then start SMS and redo all the configuration items in the setup screens and save a new SMS.cfg
Restart SMS and everything is working again. Weird
--- Original Post---
SMS (2.9 R1) can no longer start the SMB network on my PS2. (SCPH-75006)
It was previously working fine, then after changing the static IP address of the Server (and updating SMS.smb), SMS just crashes immediately after startup.
If I use uLE to move SMS.smb out of the mc0:/SMS folder so that the SMB networking is disabled then it will not crash and I can still play media from USB.
The Server, a NSLU2 (192.168.1.77) and PS2 (192.168.1.101) are both connected via patch cables directly to a broadband router (192.168.1.1).
I can see and open the shares on the server at smb://192.168.1.77 via other computers on the network running Ubuntu or XP (with DHCP addresses) using a blank username/password.
I'm starting SMS via FCMB 1.8b on a genuine Sony 8MB MC.
Config files are:
mc0:/SYS-CONF/IPCONFIG.DATmc0:/SMS/SMS.smbCode:192.168.1.101
255.255.255.0
192.168.1.1
Then immediately after SMS starts, I get the exception handler:Code:192.168.1.77

Any suggestions?
P.S. Wouldn't it make more sense for the exception handler to restart the console (or launch mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF) rather than get stuck in an endless loop of a crashing SMS (if you press X)?
