    Hi,

(Note to Moderators: Posted this in the IDE HDD section the other day but have received no replies, felt someone here might be able to help. Feel free to remove either one if no replies)

Currently I have my HDD in my PS2, but with the PS3 release coming up I've been thinking about how its going to effect how I look/listen to all the media I have stored on it. I've been thinking about getting some sort of NAS enclosure for my HDD so that I can have one console in the lounge and the other in a different room sharing the HDD over the network.

I've been copying my CD collection to the HDD and am starting to run out of space so was thinking that the new NAS enclosure should have room for two HDDs. Are there any compatibility issues I need to be aware of when choosing a HDD enclosure.

As I use programmes like SMS a lot which has SMB support I've been looking at enclosures that support SMB, but do I need that? Are there any perticular manufacturers any one woulf recommend or warn against? Am I going to have to reformat the HDD or can I continue to use the HDLoader formated HDD as is once its in the NAS enclosure?

    Many thanks in advance

Also would be interesting to be able to see USB HDs with multiple partitions, some cellular phones have 2 partitions (internal memory + card) and with SMS only the first is mounted.

I have 3 USB HDDs hooked to Linksys NSLU2 running uNSLUng 6.8 Beta. The SMS can access all of them without any problem.
I posted guid on how to connect make SMB on NSLU2 visible in SMS.

Thanks propagandist, I remember seeing that guide.

Was hoping to use some 3.5" HDD enclosure for 2 or more HDDs as I already have a 250gb one sat in my PS2, and a few samller ones spare. Did think about getting an enclosure to turn them into USB HDDs and then getting a NSLU2. Think the idea of having to buy lots of extra hardware is whats putting me off that.
