I've ripped a short video from a DVD and encoded it to xvid, it works great on the computer but it stutters a little bit on sms 2.9 rev.4. I would like to know if it's anything wrong with it before encoding thw whole dvd. I've uploaded it, here's the link, can someone help me please?:

My guess would be that the bitrate is too high. Try encoding the clip at 1000-1200 kbps and see how that will play.

Even more important is what storage medium is used.

When using a USB drive it doesn't take a very high bitrate to get stutters, due to the slow USB 1.1 interface of the PS2. Results should be much better when playing the video from internal HDD (if available) or when playing it over LAN using SMB protocol.

Sorry I forgot to mention that I see videos through ethernet. Auto Guardian KNot doesn't have option to specify the bitrate, I'll try to use another program.

I replaced the link, the other one wasn't working.

Ok that was retard, the video had around 3500 kbps of bitrate, of course it will stutter on SMS.

Now I'm trying to rip the subtitles, I ripped them to srt and it works ok on vlc player, but it isn't working on sms, they appear to load fine but do not appear on the video itself, here they are the subtitles: NewFile2.srt

You need to open up the subtitles in notepad and save as ANSI encoding (as opposed to Unicode). Then they will display. Although SMS won't show italics in between each subtitle line properly.
