Problem with routerhi –
08-26-2006,05:55 AM
hi there just got a new router cause mine old died.
now i have the problem, i can't connect to the ps2 anymore
on the first router i had following possibility, setting a ip to a macadress.
so i had pc set to 1.1.1.1 and ps2 1.1.1.2 (just examples)
i didn't had to forword anything etc.
Now on the new router, i can't do such a thing. I only got a mac adress filter.
i see that my pc has the ip 1.1.1.1 and my ps2 have 1.1.1.2
BUT dhcp enabled, but my ipconfig.dat is also set to 1.1.1.2 and gateway set to pc (tryed also router as gateway, same result - didn't work)
Do i have to swich off dhcp and set on every pc the ip manuely? (don't remember the exakt setup from the old router it was a little thing with like three options to configurate ^^)
the new one is this:
http://www.usr-emea.com/support/s-pr...grmy&prod=8054
(sorry its in german, but most of the links are in english anyway)
don't know maybe i have to forward some port or sumthing, dunnow to little experience with routers. can't figure it out why it does not work, probebly of the dhcp i think, cause stuff like connect to a ftp works with no prob (even with non standardport.) if someone could point out my problem, or tell me how i can tell this router that he gives static adress to e specific macadress i would be deeply grateful.
sorry for my poor englishskills

Yes, the PS2 does not use DHCP to set its own address. Also you need your PC to have a static IP because all PS2 programs (SMS) look at a single address.
