Give us a little more information on how you are trying to network SMS! Are you using uLaunchelf,FTP,etc? Also, the reason why you probably have a "corrupted data" showing up where you have SMS installed is because you have to assign an entry for the SMS icon. Now, that is a different story than just the networking! There is tutorials on these very forums about getting SMS to show up on your MC with an icon & not corrupted data! I don't have that readily available but you can search yourself & I can try & find a link for ya too if time allows! I had to find the very same tutorials back when I was learning about SMS Player! Thanks!
BTW, it would probably be best to search the SMS forums to start off!

Did you 'start & stop' the ps2client to see if that helps? Also, be sure that you have your network configuration setup correctly for both the ps2 & PC! It's a know issue in that you have to stop ps2client & restart for it to work right to get the host contents. Also, be sure that you have added the 'host' contents to the ps2client. Thanks!

For running commercial games from HDD you will need a program known as "HDLoader". There's tons of info about it on Internet, both here and on hundreds of other sites, so just google for it.
As for storing ISO files on the HDD, that's not quite how HDLoader works. Instead it uses a special partition type for games, with each such partition holding one game ISO. To install games this way over the network you will need to run a special server program on the PS2 and a special client program on the PC. Those installer programs are hosted on this site, and you can reach them through this link.
HDLoader itself is also available on this site in the main subforum dedicated to IDE HDD usage. You can get it from the first post in the main thread of that forum, which you can reach through this link.
