Do any of you use mencoder from here: http://www.mplayerhq.hu/
If so what are the suggested optimized parameters to use with SMS playback?

use Megui to encode video.
Megui Gui for MENCODER..
I find this very easy to be use and better than virtualdub
http://megui.sourceforge.net/
With which settings?
mp3 audio =128kbps(safe),<196 kbps(should be ok but video bitrate must be <1000kbps)
xvid video bitrate=(<1500kbps(on usb or network), <1800kbps on hdd or dvd meda)
Resolution:640 x 480(max achievable using the bit rate on usb or hdd),(720x480 ,max achievable using the bit rate on hdd and dvd media)
note:Just to inform some reported higher resolution was reported playable with <800kbps bit rate
To avoid:Qpel,GMC <b-frames >3
For megui UI>use any xvid of the (fast) profile is good, just remember to diabled Qpel.
As for AC3 audio, did not monitor what was the highest bitrate running good on SMS,Perhaps someone coule provide info
hope this help.
in AC3, dont use bitrate higher than 128Kbps, sms will make loud distorsion sometime. (tedted using sms 2.0)
i dont know is it a bug or not,
but it always happen, all my Avi with AC3 audio higher than 128kbps sometime make distorsion sound, this happend when there a loud sond playing, like Gunshot, explosion and so on.
i tried playing from USB, LAN, DVD all the same.
do i need to post the sample video?
