Newbie Network Share issues
Hi all, I apologize if this is common knowledge, but I've been searching and haven't found a definitive answer.
I'm running SMS off FreeMcB and I can access network shares on my XP machine from my PS2, and on my W7 machine from my XP, but not on my W7 from my PS2.
I have read some people say SMS and W7 are hardcoded to read different samba ports, and thus they refuse to cooperate. Others say they've gotten SMS to play W7 network shares. Still others say SMS will pull network shares from W7, but only with radhost.
The state of things thus far:
PS2 is communicating with the W7 machine to the extent that I can successfully ping PS2 from W7. I can also connect when running ps2net ftp server and filezilla ftp client on the W7 machine. I used this ftp setup to put my SMS.smb file into the mc1 on the PS2, so I know they're communicating.
Since I can pull netshares from W7 on XP, I seem to have the shares setup correctly on W7.
The actual error I get when trying to see network shares from W7 on pS2 is
"Login error (5) (press 'cross' to continue)..."
So what gives? Am I just doing something wrong? Is it simply the hardcoded port issue? Do I need to try the radhost method? Or will that likely not work and I need to find an alternative to SMS completely?
Success with Windows 7 and Radhostclient
Well in case anyone else is trying to stream network shares off Windows 7, I can confirm rad host client is working for me. It's slightly less convenient having to leave another program running, but not that much of a big deal, really.
