is there a way to play files from a NAS device.

Well there is, but it requires a computer intermediately.

Mount the NAS as a network drive in windows, then use the ps2link with host: to browse to it.

I just hope you'll get enough speed of it, because the data first goes to your computer, and then to your ps2.
