Not a continuous rewind, like with physical tape.

But any digital media containing sequential data with a reasonably consistent playback rate should allow a jump to a chosen point within the sequence, though that ability can be limited by special considerations (video key frames, audio sample steps, etc).

AVI with MP3 sound is a very similar case, and almost every AVI player allows jumps to arbitrary positions in the playback timeline. Even SMS allows that, as you can just press 'Select' to halt the video and then use DPad_Right or DPad_Left to choose a new playback point forwards or backwards from the current one (respectively), and then press 'Cross' to continue playing from the selected point.

So if Eugene had wanted to do so he could of course have implemented the same kind of playback point jumps for pure MP3 playing as well. He just didn't choose to do it.

    Best regards: dlanor
