First of all I'd like to say hello to all forum users as it's my first post here
Before I'll expand question form the title let me point my main goal I'd like to achieve.
Few days ago I have found fatty PS2 (SCPH-39003) and decided to keep it and transform into media center (kind of). I'm changing my HDD tomorrow and will have spare ATA one. Although, the best way to transfer movies to console would be sharing files from PC over network (which is, as far as I've found on forums, easy and possible to do).
So I thought installing SMS onto hard drive attached to the console should do the trick, but I'm facing some problems before I've even started doing something.
It is really not easy to get the network adapter here in UK under 20£ first of all, but let's say I have it (sooner or later ill get one) and then ill plug me HDD in. However, my PS2 doesn't read any disks now.. I've cleaned laser tonight, but with no success. And here comes my main question:
Is it possible to get SMS working without using disk reader?
My second PS2 has reader working just fine, but it's unmodded slimline so that won't help to much I guess (i could ask my mate to borrow me his PS2 which is modded if that's necessary).
I think that's it for now, I'll probably ask more questions after getting SMS ready to go.
Thanks in advance, any help much appreciated
