Hi guy i lost the game "Ridge Racer type 4" the one i used to boot in the system where i boot sms.elf. so could i just buy the exact same game would it work? or is there some special code from that exact disc that makes it unique so i cant just buy the same game?

I really cant be bothered to go through the whole procedure of the memory hack for a new PS1 game CD truth be told i cant remember how I even did it it was so long ago but i know it was a great hassle.

You can now run homebrew apps without needing a ps1 boot disc , right off the MC.

    Free McBoot Install Guides

But to anwser your question of the PS1 disc, yes you can buy another game that is the same as you have been using, each game title is assigned an ID # and it is the same for all the games with the exact same title, but it does change from region to region.

thanks for the reply, i will probably just get it off ebay about £3 or so. I would do the right off the MC method, but it looks just a dauntiing. Correct me if im wrong but i still need to get access to the memory card either but going through the whole process of networking my PS2 to my computer and doing some FTP thing to gain access to the MC.

I do have a HDadvance CD and i load games off my PS2 HDD.

All you really need is a way to run the Free McBoot installer to install it on a MC. That can be done with your HD Advance disc and putting a uLaunchelf ISO in the HDD. You will need a USB stick to install with for now.

The Guide looks a bit intimidating because there are a lot of options to choose from, but is really pretty easy to do a basic install with minimal apps.
