Sometimes it happens, and sometimes it doesn't. While watching movies from my PC over the network, playback unexpectedly freezes and I have to hard-power-off my PS2 by holding the power button for 5 seconds. Any ideas to what could be going on?

    Im having the same problem.

Everytime I stream a AVI file from my Windows SMB share folder, the file freezes. And I cant do anything once it freezes.I have to hard reset my PS2 from the back switch and reload freemcboot and SMS.

    Heres my setup

    uLE to 4.42a (Beta)
SMS to 2.9 Rev.4 patched by SP193, to also support V0-PS2s.

    PS2 SCPH-39001 v7 3A

    XP HOME 2002
    Intel Pentium Centrino Mobile
    1.86 ghz 1GB ram 3gb virtual ram

    Netgear wpn824v2

Ive set address reservation for my PS2 and PC in the router settings. And I gave my PC a static ip

Is this some setting I missed?or something I need to tweak?

These were some questions posed by anotehr member on SKSAPPS (shitty forum by the way)

Does it only happen with files from SMB source?
Does it always happen, with every file from SMB source?
    1) They are random freezes
    2) It only happens from the SMB source and not from usb
    3) I tried it with two different AVI movies and it freezes within the first 5 minutes of playback

    heres the AVI info

I'm not using SMB because it's too damn slow, if I want to copy an episode, for example That '70s Show, I'll wait 30 minutes for a 20minute episode to copy. I use host:/ protocol because it supports up to full 10Mbps, as it's the maximum speed at whic my PC can upload over the network.

I don't think you have to do that. I set up address reservation only for my PC, so it doesn't get a different address by accident, but I don't think it's necessary with the PS2 address. It's not obtained through DHCP, so I just used a higher value, in this case 123 (192.168.0.123) and set up my router DHCP server range from 1 to 122. If it's connected, that should be it.

I've tried some tests and foudn that freeze occurs more with PS2Client Loader and less when using RadHostClient. But, that doesn't work for me because I need to share three whole drives. Also, it occurs in SMS as well as uLE. But strangely, when using HDLDumb, no matter how large files I send to my PS2 through HDL server running on OPL, it never failed me. I'm guessing it's a PING related problem in PS2CLient Loader and RadHostClient, or, in uLE/SMS.
