I'm stuck on this page: http://www.daveandzoe.plus.com/sms/H...on-detail.html

I've got a modchip, all I need to know is how to get the FTP server to work. I'm stuck where it says "Assuming you've already copied the BOOT.ELF onto your memory card using one of the exploit installation techniques, it is very easy to start the FTP server."

It's assuming I've already copied the BOOT.ELF, but I'm reading the instructions to find out how to do that, so I'm stuck here.

Can someone help me with this part? Once I get the FTP up and running I'll try do the rest myself.

(PS2 and PC are connected to a switch in my network)

this belongs in the ulaunchelf forums... anyway,

    1. unzip that ulaunchelf rar file... grab the BOOTc.elf file (you wont need the others)

    2. rename it BOOT.ELF

    3. download CDGENPS2.

    4. open notepad and paste:

    BOOT2 = cdrom0:\BOOT.ELF;1
    VER = 1.00
    VMODE = NTSC

(use PAL instead of NTSC if you have a PAL TV)

    5. File --> Save As: "system.cnf" (make sure it is a CNF file, not a TXT file)

    6. drag this system.cnf into CDGENPS2 main window...
    7. drag BOOT.ELF into CDGENPS2 main window...
    8. right click SYSTEM.CNF, choose edit... then check box called 'fix LBA'. enter in 12231
    9. save as BIN (or CUE/BIN)...
    10. Burn.
    11. put it in your PS2... label side up...
    12. turn on PS2.

    13. copy the BOOT.ELF to your memory card if you like... but actually, since you have now learned how to put files on a CD to put in your PS2, why not just also add SMS.ELF on the CD in step 7... no more need for FTP.

in fact, why not just replace BOOT.ELF with SMS.ELF and then your cd will boot straight to SMS... and chuck a movie or music on there while you're at it.

Thanks, thats the instructions I was looking for.

If I replace BOOT.ELF with SMS.ELF, will I have to use the CD everytime I want to use SMS? I thought SMS could be run off memory card? that's probably faster than CD and more convenient. I'll be running my media off the network, I don't want to run movies off CD/DVD because I used to with ps2reality but movies kept pausing and skipping.

Alright I got SMS started up, configured the network settings but it doesn't work at all.

this is what I get on my network properties:

so I configured my ps2 settings like this:

    PS2 IP Address:
    10.0.0.10

    PS2 Subnet Mask:
    255.0.0.0

    PS2 Default Gateway:
    10.0.0.2

theres 2 pcs on my network. Mine is 10.0.0.3 and the other is 10.0.0.4, so I made the ps2 use 10.0.0.10, nothing wrong with that is there?

Should I just start a new thread?

the PS@ GATEWAY must be the IP of the network card that is connected to the PS2.

so PS2 gateway is not 10.0.0.2... but 10.0.0.3

and the gateway of the network card, can/must/should be the IP of your internet connection IF u want to play online, or else u can keep it emtpy.

That's not entirely true. vicx said he was using a switch, if by switch he means a router of some sort the gateway for both PC and PS2 must be the IP address of the router (in my case it's also 10.0.0.2); on the other and, if the switch is just a simple ethernet hub the gateway must be the Ip address of the computer u're connecting to (10.0.0.3 in this case), just like broodje said. Of course u still need the client to connect to the PS2...

I still can't get it working.

    PC IP: 10.0.0.3
    PC Subnet: 255.0.0.0
    PC Gateway: 10.0.0.2

    PS2 IP: 10.0.0.3
    PS2 Subnet: 255.0.0.0
    PS2 Gateway: 10.0.0.3

And yes I have RadHostClient 1.7 running on 10.0.0.3
I've got a switch (like a hub), my PC, router, and PS2 are connected to the switch/hub.
Do I have to restart the PS2 everytime I change the network settings? I just click "save/update settings"

configure the gateway setting on your PS2 to the switch (10.0.0.2)
also check that your PS2 IP is entered in RadHostClient

lolol!, u cant give ur PC and the PS2 the same IP my friend listen up:

    make it like this:

    PC IP: 10.0.0.3
    PC Subnet: 255.0.0.0
PC Gateway: 10.0.0.4 or what ever, not important, higher then 3 anyway

    PS2 IP: 10.0.0.2
    PS2 Subnet: 255.0.0.0
    PS2 Gateway: 10.0.0.3

Or, do it like me, buy a X-over cable.
    plug it in your PS2
    plug other end in PC

    done
