Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum but i find it very instructive.

I tried to stream media over my network with sms via smb, but it don't work. I'm on Vista. I shared some folders with movies and photos inside for testing but when I open them in sms they are all empty. The network must be ok because I can see the shared folders, but something must be wrong. I suspected my wifi connection, but with rad host it work pretty well. I probably stick with rad host, but it would be great to solve that problem.

    Thank you.

I don't use Vista myself, but I do know that even under WinXP that I use it is possible for files stored inside a folder to have stricter fileshare permissions than the folder itself. And for such cases such folders may be visible in a fileshare client, but when trying to look inside those folders the content (or some of it) is invisible.

This happened frequently to me when I copied game ISO files from another computer into the PS2SMB folder on my main PC which is used by OPL for running the games over LAN. And later those games would fail to run because of incorrect access permissions. This was easy to fix once I realized the problem, simply by opening the fileshare permission properties of each such file and setting them as needed.

Perhaps you should try this too, setting fileshare permission individually for a couple of AVI files, to check if they are then visible in SMS.

    Best regards: dlanor
