Hi, thanks for the info. I've not come across this 'bit-setting' feature, and I'm not sure that I fully understand what you mean.

Are you saying that on a V3 PS2, a DVD+/-R burned in the normal way will not be recognised?

Also, are you saying that the solution is by using a 'bitsetting' feature of the DVD writing software which has to be supported by both the software and the drive?

If this is all correct - could you describe what options we need to look for and what we need to set them too?

    Many thanks, Dave

I use +R most of the times. There cheaper (at least here they are) and there fysical better than -R. With fysical I mean the way they're build and work.
It's not so much a difference in build/burn/read quality (the +RW Alliance originally claimed superior playback compatibility, but that was before the format was really launched and they don't say that anymore), but in the way the burner keeps track of its position while burning. The main advantages of +R/RW are mostly useful for standalone video recorder and PC use with rewritable discs (which is evidenced by the fact that +RW came before +R, as anyone who bought an early +RW drive can tell you). The technical advantage is there, it just isn't relevant to single-session recording.

Yes and No some of us with better modchip will be able to bott games and read dvd +-/r but for them who always get an illegal media prompt from ps2 need to have booktype their media.Bitsetting theh media to dvd-rom ...would fool the ps2 to treat the dvd+r media as dvd-rom.....with this the game you always burn/dvd movies/dvd data will always read from ps 2 and of course dvd-rom read at faster speed compared to dvd+-/r media ....

The dvd-drives must support it.....as for software side use Nero........
believe me..you would always get a 100% read sucess if you do bitsetting..

My PS2v4 and DVD+Rs just do not agree with each other. For that reason, I indiscriminately use DVD-Rs for anything PS2 or data related.

I use DVD+Rs because -R sounds so negative.
