Is there an open-source program out their to convert DVD to Xvid, or Divx, or Avi?

I don't know if people would find it worth while but do you think if SMS had this capability to pop in a DVD movie and convert it down to another format and sit it on the hdd to watch later.

heh... it wouldn't be that crazy an idea though. i don't see why you'd need all that much ram, and of course you would rip the dvd to the hdd first to avoid burning up the laser.

other than that, just leave the ps2 switched on all day. it would take perhaps 8 hours. so long as you didn't need the ps2 during that time, it would be much more convenient to set it going and it'd be ready in the morning or something.

    although, who'd write such a tool i don't know.
