Can the permanently streaming from cd damage the PS2-laser in any way?
Is there any difference at all by playing a game on cd-r or watching a movie on cd-r?
I'm a little afraid to destroy my PS2 by using the SMS-player...
Like i said, i would like to watch the DivX-movie burned on a cd-r, not from HDD or usb-stick!
Sorry for such a dumb question, but i just want to be sure about it...

The PS2 in default isn't very good with CD's,I recommending you to use DVD's rather than CD's because in CD mode the disk spins faster.

Playing or watching it's almost the same...actually while playing games the PS2 does more work(the laser moves almost non stop and he's reading different files and while your watching a movie he reads only one file and the laser is moving really slow only in one direction)

And if not Samba, try using a USB memory stick. It's access speed is not as fast as over the network but for lower rate DivX it's perfectly fine.
