You need to prepare a "Fake-DVD", or ESR-Patch it before burning.
There is no way yet and probably never will be, to enable an unmodded PS2 reading burned discs, which are not Video-DVD-Conform.
    PS2 V7/DMS3 V2 (FW:2.4b7); Seagate Baracuda 200GB
    PS2 V7/CC1.0 (FW:34 hacked v2 BM:2.1.6); Maxtor DiamondMAX9 PLUS 160GB
    PS2 SCPH-30004R; NoMod+NoLaser

    3xSony MC 8MB
    MAX/Datel 16MB with Boot-CD

This is why I have a Philips DIVX player or an XBOX1.

If you have DIVX movies on a DVD+R already, the easiest way to play it is put the movie on USB and play it through SMS.

In fact an even simpler method for those with a networked PS2 is to insert the DVD disc with the media files in a CDVD reader on your PC, with that same CDVD drive defined as a fileshare for the network.

Then you can start up SMS on the PS2 and access this fileshare over SMB protocol, just like you would do with media files stored on the HDDs of your PCs.

It makes no difference at all to SMS that the shared drive happens to be a CDVD reader. Any physical media specifics are up to the PC to handle, but for networked access it is just one more SMB fileshare like any other.

To my knowledge this is the only practical method by which an unmodded PS2 console can read content of burned CD or DVD discs that are not in CDDA or DVD-Video format. And this should work for all discs without exception, since the PS2 itself is not involved in the physical disc access, but only sees it as a network transfer stream.

    Best regards: dlanor
