I was wondering what type of settings for the IPCONFIG i would need to set to hook up a ethernet cable directly from my laptop and into the ps2.

I tried setting the ps2 ip as 192.168.1.77, however since there is no "network" persay, the laptop didnt see the ps2.

Another way i could hook my laptop straight up into the ps2 it to run a program that allows for it to be shown as an evternal USB drive. Like C:/ROOT/ as the root of the drive, and hook up a USB -> USB cord.

Either way, im just trying to go Laptop -> ps2 without a network or anything else

Check out the SMS Manual found at sms.psx-scene.com
Specifically this bit describes how to set up an ethernet crossover cable
