i'm not sure, but you might try installing a bootable ISO of SMS plus your media to HDLoader using WinHIIP. not sure SMS will be fooled by HDLoader's fake CDFS though...
alternative: make ulaunchELF boot disc with your files included and install it to HDLoader using WinHIIP or similar. then launch the image from HDLoader, whereupon the files in 'CDFS' (the mounted images) may be copied out onto a PFS partition using uLaunch. (aparently this works, although from what i know of the PS2's HDD system, it shouldn't... but someone told me that's how they do it...)
or... set it copying from USB and leave it overnight... it'll eventually finish
in reality, there are no fast, easy, and safe methods to copy such large files to the internal HDD... perhaps you'd like to try an external USB enclosure for a plain old FAT32 HDD

Well, to be honest, I don't know how it is applied to AVIs with movies with real people in movies (since that I mainly use usb for anime shows) or even how the sounds works (since that I am deaf so I have no cares for if sounds doesn't work or not and never tested it with mp3 files).

I can ask one of my hearing friend to test how sounds works with by running off usb also I will test how it works with movies with real people. (I am curious myself as well even tho I am sure its same result with animes.)
Will let you know the results bit later
So how are you getting the files onto the pen drive? As above, SMS only reads PFS partitions (and i thought uLaunchElf aswell?) and windows cant read those partitions on the computer so you cant drag and drop?? Tiny bit confused as i've just ordered another 120GB HD just for media and an external enclosure with USB2.

it's USB you know? PFS only applies to IDE
so no prob copying files with windows to the USB drive
Ahhh sorry, didnt realise the different interface made a difference (quite stupid now i think about it...!). Hell this is going to make my life easier. I had to wait around 3 hours to move one 4gb file and i've got quite a few i wanted to move.
Thanks for the info
can't we use an external HDD to play AVIs?all we need is another HDD
or can we transfer files from external USB storage to internal HDD?
I tried an external dvd drive to play discs, but it can't be recognized, either in lanuchelf and SMS. what a pity
must be the device you use
i have a WesternDigital 80GB USB HDD here, and it's working perfect.
which version of ule did you use?
the newest v3.84 has different usb drivers than previous versions.
chances are good, that your device is only working with either the old or the new drivers. and remember that the first patition has to be in FAT32, else your drive won't be recognized at all.

Right now the latest version is v3.86, which still has the same new driver as v3.84, but also has an option to load an external driver at startup. This can be used to load the old driver from the v3.83 release package, or earlier.

Am I supposed to delete USBD.IRX in MC:0 SYM-CNF when I'm using the latest uLaunchElf? I tried a pendrive, which didn't work in previous versions, but still couldn't be recognized, so does my external DVD drive.
haven't heard anyone succeeded in playing AVIs from an external DVD drive yet.
you don't need to delete the USBD.IRX in MC:0/SYS-CNF, as long as you don't set an external USBD.IRX in uLE, it will use the internal one
maybe an other app you're using still needs the USBD.IRX in MC:0/SYS-CNF (myPS2)
you can refer to the HDD forum, to see which USB devices are working with the PS2
my DVD drive isn't recognized by uLE, and i think that ability would have to be integrated in the usb drivers to work.
