I have some avi's that play fine in SMS if I start them and let them play. But if I hit 'select' to try and move to another part of the show, it just continues from where I hit 'select.' If I try to fast forward by pushing the right directional, I get kicked out from playing the file and back to the SMS browser.

I'm thinking this is a problem with the avi files then a problem with SMS. Does anyone know why this happens and a way to fix it. Or if this is something caused by SMS. Thanks.

This is a problem with the type of avi you are using. i had a few like this so i re-ecoded them using a divx converter and they play fine.

Alright, kind of what I was thinking, but was hoping there might have been a quick avi fixer I could run on all of them, so i wasn't having to re-encode an encode file already. Guess I'll start queing them all up to re-encode.

I've had a few of these too, specific ones are the Bleach episodes subbed by Dattebayo. I just ran them through VirtualDubMod by opening the video file in VirtualDubMod and then going to File -> Save as, changing the option under "Video mode" to "Direct stream copy" and finally entering a file name and pressing save. This doesn't re-encode the video, so it'll only take about 1-3 minutes depending on your computer. This completely fixed the fast forward and seeking problems for me. Hope it works out for you too!

Pheon - Thanks for the advice. The method did not work for mine, but re-encoding did do the trick.

Also, it happened to me. But only once, it's "The Miracle of Bern"(English Version)
However, when I use the latest version of SMS(supporting remote control) with remote controller, something similar happens. When playing, I press SELECT, try to move to another part, but it brings me back to the folder. But it's OK when using a Dual Shock 2. a bug, hmm

When using the remote control for seeking, you have to use the rewind and fast forward buttons on the remote after pressing the select or pause button. Hope that solves your problem!
