Avi on DVD problem

Guys, I got a strange problem. My PsTWO is a 75001 modded with Matrix v1.82 and i can't get to run avi files recorded on DVD disks. The error message is "Disc Illegal" but when i try to run the same avi file, but this time recorded in a normal CD, it works. Any ideias?

you have to burn using dvr-+ bitset to dvd-rom..........any information on bitsetting pls use google.... : )

Bitset shouldn't matter.
I burned all my avi DVDs without any bitsetting, as normal ISO creations with Nero, and they're all running fine.
It rather seems like the chip is somehow not active, or the PS2 has troubles reading DVDs.
Or is it the MI that requires the bitset?

earlier version of modchip does not remove ps2 dvd check...so it will only play dvd-rom...and won't read burned media...so the only way is to bitset to dvd-rom....so far I got a 100% read from my ps2 burning using LG dv-writter...
I remember my agony trying to figure out why my burned game could not play, when I bought a imation dvd-writter(it does not support bitset,even writting to their technical help does not help)..I took me a week to search...and wasted about 10 dvd media....

believe me bitset will make your burn file work with your ps2.....unless you have newer version of modchip that remove dvd checks

Ok, I didn't know that.
Glad I have a CC, and bitset doesn't for me. My DVD burner doesn't support bitset, so I'd be lost with an old Chip.

to play AVIs on the ps2 from a DVD media, it is required that the DVD media must have a UDF layer, otherwise the DVD wont play on the ps2...DVD Movies have a UDF....so what you need to do, is make a DVD Movie project in Nero, and put the AVI files there....then load the AVI files in SMS....it should work....you can use dummy DVD movie files, which i have provided in the attachment...

ive read the method using nero 5 to burn it with the mini dvd files to trick it into reading,I was only able to get it to read it if i swapped it using slide card at the ulaunchelf screen i get after booting up through swap magic,so I have no chip,is it supposed to be like this? from how i read it it should be bootable without swaping.

edit: what I forgot is,since I dont have nero 5 and I have nero 6 it will only let me add my AVI files to the VIDEO_TS folder,could that be the problem?
